TI-84 Graphing Calculators
We will continue to learn how to use the TI-84 graphing calculator in Math 2 this year. Its use will not be as extensive as last year in Math I, but it will be used more next year in Math III.
Yes, it may seem "early" to introduce the graphing calculators to students just entering high school. But with the ever-growing importance of technology within our daily lives, the more beneficial it will be for students to start learning now. This calculator WILL be used in all subsequent math classes at Cerritos HS.
Any calculator in the TI-84 family will work for our class.
The TI-83 family of calculators may also be used, it is an older model and has fewer features and a slower processor than the TI-84.
The purchase of the calculator is an investment in you child's education. Many places have them on sale right now, ranging from $80-$110. Over the course of 4 years, this can be viewed as a $20-$25 investment per year.
The TI-nSpire with the TI-84 keypad can also be used, but I generally recommend against it.
However, please do NOT purchase the TI-85, TI-86, or TI-89.
